I'm hoping someone can recommend a good value for a tripod that I can use as a rifle rest in the field as well as to hold a spotting scope or camera? Thanks!

Leofoto 324c or 324CL (taller) with MA-30 or MA-30L head. Best bang for your buck.

I have a lot of tripods, but for packing I really like the carbon, Artcise CT80C I got from amazon for $145. It seems to be pretty good quality for the money. You can put a shooting saddle ball head on it or a spotting scope head.

Anyone ever try a BOG Deathgrip? $145 with a gun rest.

I would only use it occasionally to shoot for coyote hunting. The rest of the time it would just hold a spotting scope or camera at the gun range. So the $400+ tripods aren't really for me (well, not for my wallet anyway).

Seems like a good deal. Any recommendations for a shooting saddle to go with it?

Been through a few in the last 5 years or so. Fat Boy Elevate 2 section and the levitate head are really (really) nice. Get the 3 section if you want more compact (2 section is faster to deploy). Elevate design with the adjusters up top is a game changer and the Levitate head is far superior to the other locking mechanisms I have tried.

I second or 3rd the leofoto. Use with a ARCA I'll add.

They are the less stable chinese knock off of RRS, so if you're looking for budget and it to actually work, that's its. LS-284C was modeled after TFC-14 basically.

I have a fiesol and a 2 vets qdt. I'm thinking very strongly about getting rid of the qdt and getting a 2 vets recon inverted.

The system that I use works great for me and is light and easy to use. I picked up a Slik Pro 824 CF carbon fiber tripod with the Slik SVH-501 head from Camera land. The tripod is light and adjusts from prone to standing height.

I use the Spartan Precision Davros head and a Spartan Precision picatinny adapter for the rifle and the heavy duty optics adapter for the spotting scope. This system allows me use my tripod for my rifle or my spotting scope while hunting.

Works for me and much lighter than the Bog products that I looked at.
