Rebarreling Remington 760

Always thought a 760 or 7600 in 35 Whelen or 338-06 would be the Bee's Knees for hunting Roosevelt elk in the NW.

Especially with a 20" barrel.
I can't argue with that as I pack my semi-custom 700 in 35 Whelen quite often in the coastal rainforests for Roosevelt Elk and bear. It thumps them hard and is very effective 🍻

Bumping this up hoping the OP could give an update on the re-bore project...
Going to be sending it in to JES reboring, spoke with Jesse a week or two ago. I tried picking up a 30-06 barrel on eBay and the seller screwed me, there was so much fouling it looked like it had never been cleaned. After cleaning the barrel out there is pitting evident throughout (I asked specifically if there was any pitting and the seller told me no). So I ate 150 bucks there and still have to rebore. I have three guns out right now (a pre 64 Model 70, Remington 700 and a Remington Model 17) so money is tied up but I am hoping to have this set up in 35 Whelen for the fall. It's between the 760 and a Savage 99 project at the moment and it's a toss up for what route I will go, funds will dictate!

I was initially going to keep it 30-06 if the barrel was in good shape, since it is pitted I am opting for the rebore.
