Ramblings and Such From Hunting Coyote

I've heard stories from the "old timers" about doing that. Used them for dog training and whatnot. About 15 yrs ago we had a couple pet coons, were the coolest pets we ever had. I wouldn't dream of grabbing one by the tail and sacking one. They can tear you apart if you ain't careful lol.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^ what he said. My grandfather had a dairy farm. One night when I was young, Grandad had a problem with a coon. He took a pitchfork and pinned it to the wall. Uncle Clark came over and chopped his head off with a shovel. They always warned me to be careful of coons. Razor sharp claws. A big boar coon is a tough son of a gun.

Even when you had the coon in the sack , we continued swinging it out away from our bodies . One time Harry was watching the dogs so intently that he slowed down the swinging and the sack got close to his leg and the coon grabbed his leg with his front paws and began trying to attack the coach .

Does this mean that I have officially achieved the status of "OLD TIMER" ???

I will be 70 in 3 weeks .

Wear the title of old timer like a badge of honor. We just called then treeing walkers . They look a lot like a long legged beagle . But have a much prettier voice to me . I've seen them used for coons , cats , bears ect.

With the utmost respect Yes you are an OG to me. Like DSheetz said were the badge of honor coming from me anyway. I'm 46 but you all are a much better generation than mine where values, morals, and the list goes on were instilled young and you kept them unlike most my age and younger just don't have a clue!

DSheetz ,

Coach Harry did have a registered Treeing Walker that was working it's way toward the ranking of Night Champion . The dog's color was predominantly white with some brown and black patches on his sides and back . He was a larger and younger dog than Tough , the old Black and Tan , but Tough was always the leader of the pack.

74Honker ,

Thank You for the compliment .
I have twin sons who are 46 , same age as you .
Every generation has good , bad , and in-different .
You sound as though you learned the virtue of Respect for others . Your parents , or those who raised you , as well as you , are to be commended .

I appreciate that DMP25-06. I was brought up pretty old school for sure. Didn't have much growing up and still don't lol but what we have is ours and other than the bank on a couple things lol. Guess I've just always been better around those older than myself than those of my age. Even when I guided all over the midwest for waterfowl I was always the guy who took the oldest group of hunters and not the young hard to control groups. I liked it that way. I learned more from all the stories they had over the years than I can probably ever remember. There's guys with hair on their chest and there's some just like to beat there own chest, I'll take all you hairy guys any day lol.
