If you are going to keep your current feeders, Duke's Dog Proof traps and a 22 rifle will fix the problem for a while

I ended up wrapping the tree. Let's see if this works! I figured I would give this a try before hanging the feeder across a chain between two frees.

Something else you can do is take flashing and wrap the base of the feeder using small self-tapping screws, 6" flashing screwed to the barrel lip will prevent anything from reaching the spinner. I have done that with these type hanging feeders I use in pig traps, also concentrates the corn under the feeder, only difference is that I made small L tabs and screwed it to the bottom of the feeder since the lip was so small.

Put thin tin on the tree from the ground to above the feeder. It used to happen to me.
