Question for those that take large game at 300 to 600 yrds

Took my longest game animal at 920 some yards on 16 power using a FFP scope in 5-25. That's where I find myself for shooting out to 1000 yds. 500 yds 8-10, 1000 yds 16-18 and proportionally increases in between.

Carry my rifle around at minimum magnification as well - 2.5 or 3.5 power.

I run the highest magnification I can and still see all the critter. I like to be able to really hold on "the spot" I'm trying to hit. I find I'm not as discerning on lower powers. That said, I usually run about 16-18.
