I am looking at building my first rifle. I am trying to keep it reasonably light because it will be used in the mountains for elk. I bounced back and forth between the Anti and the Origin but the Anti is quite a bit lighter so I ended there. I am going carbon on the barrel to save some weight as well. I see that i can get a pre-fit from Proof for $879, which is about $100 more than just a blank. If i look at purchasing a barrel from a smith and having them do the barrel work it is substantially more expensive. Am i missing something here? Is there benefit to having a smith do the barrel rather than proof? As mentioned above, the gun will be used for hunting but i want to end up with something 1/2 MOA or less.
