What is amounts to is that bolt face to primer clearance is what matters most, and measuring off the top of the rim adds in the variability of rim thickness to the bolt face to primer distance.Sorry old thread revival!
Why not make a Primeware V2 that uses the Lee shellholders and/or shoulder bushings as the case holder. That way you are holding on the top of the rim which is a machined surface or the datum circle which is the chamber datum or contact point?
If we index off of the top of the rim during our measurement and we saw there was a uniformity issue, but we measured off the base of the case and there was no uniformity issue, we know that measuring off of the base of the case is the one most likely to give the truest representations of where that primer is in relation to the fire control group in our rifle.
