Price of factory Ammo

That's because the miltary's new platform, the XM5 / XM250, will use the 6.8 x 51 mm cartridge. Ammo mfgs are trying to offload inventory / maintain market share of the old 5.56.
Good article about the new military round

For now I will stick with 5.56 round. 6.8x51 is going to take awhile. Ammo will heavier, At those ranges of 500 meters, I would use my bolt actions. What it kind of tells me 62gr isn't doing the job at closer rangers. Equipment changes, and so upgrades are need. The M-14 was a good rifle, and 400 meter with open sights work. It is a heavy rifle, and the ammo is heavy too. I carried 45 18 round clips on me, 200 rounds M-60 ammo for the Hog, 45 1911, 3 clips, and a box of 50, and finally 6 grenades, and 3 smoke. Plus an m-5 aid bag. We were on short field operations, so I wasn't walking all day with that load. We as a 10 man team, and I didn't want my men to run short on ammo in a fire fight. Finally I wouldn't come close to that with an m-14.

Ammo is still coming down. I am seeing more and more manufactures coming out with other types of ammo. Maybe we'll see primers and powder come back after the manufactures get done. I wonder where the primers are at. Very few if any Federal primers, and 3 to 4 times the price if you find them. Like wise with other primers too.

500 bucks for 1000 rounds of 5.56. Laughs in 300RUM.

5.56 dropped again. $0.47 per round. Dropped about $0.08 per round just in the last few days. They are all pushing sale on ammo. It hadn't come down much. It just drop into the .40+ area this week.
