Powder suggestions

Given the current circumstances with powder availability which powder would you guys start to work up a load with in a 6.5 PRC 24" tube if this is what you had on hand. I have 140 elite hunters and 156s on hand.

H1000 - 1lb (possibly get another lb or 2)
IMR - 7828ssc 6+lbs
RL-25. 5+ lbs
RL-23. 2lbs

I might go with the RL 25. I know it is not rated as one of the super stable powders but it should get you good velocity.

H1000 or RL23. Either should work great. Not top velocity but close... Also both very stable.

Velocity wise RL25 and H1000 will work best, followed by RL23 and 7828.

Vectan 8000 & VVN165 would work - I use these for similar applications and are sort of like (about) RL23 in burn rate - not as popular but I was able to buy some & get good results. Both single base.

My best load for my 6.5-284 Norma is reloader 23 it is very stable and accurate with good velocity

156 Berger 57 grains RL25..........my Xbolt best group 9/16" @ 300 yards 3 shot, 100 yards it's a ragged hole

IMR7828 is fairly temp sensitive.
RL25 is very temp sensitive.

I think I am going to go with the RL-23 first and 25 next.

Mine loves RL23, the 162gr SST and the 180gr Berger VLDH shoot great with it.

Have no experience with RL25, but it would be worth a look with the 156's. I do have experience with RL23 in the 6.5x284 and it's peas and carrots like the others have said. I'd think the PRC would love it as well.

The 140 class bullets do very well in my 26" Proof carbon barrel, running around 58 grains of H1000, which is very temp stable. ADG brass, approx 2986 fps and good ed and ds. This gets into a slightly con pressed load, so the RL powders serve me bettervwith the 156.
