I have a DPMS LR-260L on order. Any advice on powder choices? I plan on useing 95gr v-max on varmints and 129gr sst interlocks on deer. The rifle has a 18in barrel, 1x7.5 twist. From what I have read, h-4350, RL-19, & Varget get good reviews. Any other advice would be great.

I have shot the powders that you mentioned in my Rem 260 with very good results. I have also found that RL-17 has something to offer as well as Hunter. I am shooting a 22 inch Hart barrel so RL-17 may be even better in a shorter barrel than RL-19 since it is a tad faster. With 120 Sierra Match bullets and RL-17 I have been able to get 2900+ ft/sec with good accuracy.

rem260,
My go to deer load is the Nosler 120gn Ballistic Tip in front of 46.5gn of H4350 with a 9.5 primer. I'm getting between 2900 and 3000fps and accuracy is running .3745" for three shots at 100yds. This is from a 22" barrel on a 700 Mtn rifle. JohnnyK.

I'm getting extremely good results with H-4350 and 130 Norma bullets and 139 Lapua Scenars. Good velocities and accuracy in line with the rifle's capability.

IMR or Hodgdon 4895 is also an excellent choice especially for shorter bbls. It's faster than those powders already mentioned and is very well suited for the lighter bullets upto and including 120g bullets. For something heavier you may use H4350 as well as H414 as they are slower, but burn rate is good.

I used 4895 in my .260 Rem Encore pistol (14"bbl" with integral Brake) that I had. It was accurate enough to shoot sillouette chickens and bowling pins at 300yds and would group at 3/4" at 100yds.

I also used Varget, however 4895 showed the best results.

I have a model 7 260 181/2" barrel. i shoot the 100 gr. nosler BT with 50 grains of W 760 with a fedeal magnum primer. Vel. is 3100 fps 3/4" group. Have killed 5 deer with it and none have moved out of there tracks. I only bedded and adjusted trigger.

I too have a DPMS in 260 Rem mine is a 24"stainless fluted bull barrel though

I like Varget but have not found that special load for it though it does work well with the 129 Hornadys you mention 1/2 to 3/4 inch groups at 100 yds.

I shot a group that a dime would cover with 42.5 g Vihtavouri (spell?) N160 and Sierra 107gr matchkings last weekend. I have not tried any other bullet combinations yet with the Vit powder but have a couple boxes of Hornady bullets waiting to load.

Depending on what you are doing with the load varget might work well with a broad range of bullets. I have shot 100g, 107, 129, and 139g (Sierra and Hornady) so far and most of the problem is me not the load or the gun. Vit looks promising though.
