I have not had any temp issues with my RL-25. And like I said, I use lighter bullets. My 165 Nosler Ballistic Tips are deadly on Antelope and deer.

I may have to load fir a friend who has a 300. RUM! I thought I would use my H 4831SC with a 180 Grn bullet , but none of you mentioned that powder. Is it not a suitable powder for the 300 RUM????? Thanks all

I've seen good, then blown primers all in hour of shooting .. there is a lot of guys with same experience ..

also lot to lot variation is ridiculous

I'm using rl25, rl33, and rl50 in my 300rum's... My 7rum is burning h50BMG... Magnum and lrt should do you square but I suspect both are a bit more temp sensitive than stick powder.
I run 95 rl33 (215 primer) with the 225 hdy hpbt; it's going right at 3 K fps out of both rifles and I really haven't seen much push either way with varying temp.. Guys running a bit harder than I are getting issues on the high temp. side. 102 rl50 is about equal to 95 rl33 in my rifles with 225's.
I also run 93-94 rl25 with a 180 hdy right at 3280-3320 fps at ambient temp.. Prolly around 50 fps swing from cold to hot in my pipes but it's been a while since used my chrono..

I've used 4831sc with 180's out of shorter barrels. It'll work just not going to get ideal velocity.

I've been using Retumbo in one RUM since the mid 2000's. 100.1 grns Retumbo and 180 grn Accubonds. Tried H50BMG awhile back in my other RUM, results weren't that impressive. Did some reloading with 230's using H1000 & Retumbo. Retumbo shot the best groups. No reason to switch at this point.

Retumbo 89.0 grains with Berger 230 OTM at mag length ~3.7" 215M = 2,980 fps 26"
N570 90.5 grains with Hammer Hunter 227 grain 3.9" 215M = 3,010 fps 28"
I have seen Reloder 33 give more speed but was dirty and spiked pressure above ~85F

JMHO..... I bought some of the Mil-Surp stuff from Bartlett. Not the velocity of some pdrs, but not far off, and really accurate....... And cheap to shoot, I use it in all my big case stuff. Since I bought 48lbs of it, hadn't sweated the powder shortage AT ALL.....

rl33 is my favorite so far, ive tried n570, 8133, retumbo, and h1000, magnum i love with 176 atips and im playing with lrt as we speak. i got lucky and found 4lbs of rl33 on a shelf in maine along with a bunch of others so i flew it home lol to florida

Are you serious? You flew with powder on a commercial plane?

Not too smart and even dumber to say so on a public website. Minimum fine is $8340 + criminal referral.

If course rl26 is a progressive burn rate and rl 25 is not. That makes comparing the two kind of tricky. Sorta like rl17 or superformance I guess. I have established loads with superformance that would make no sense according to a burn rate chart but it's a progressive burn rate as well and that just changes things.
