Do you prefer a blind magazine or a hinged floor plate on you hunting rifle?
For my varmint rifles, I prefer the hinged floor plate mainly because I hunt coyotes I like to unload my rifle prior to getting on my ATV or in my truck to move to the next calling spot. It is more convenient to just pop all the rounds out in my seat. My detach magazine 22-250 is also very easy to unload!
Now, for my bigger rifles I prefer the blind mags. While I was living in Alaska and being forever in brown bear country, I never wanted to make the mistake of accidently opening the floor plate and dumping all my rounds on the ground in a hairy situation. With the blind mag, there is no way this could happen. Also, I did carry my .270 Win with a floor plate on a goat hunt. WHen I was brushbusting through the alders, the floor plate was opened by an alder limb and the rounds spilled. Kinda a pain in the butt.
SO...what do you think?
