Petition to Leupold for MOA reticle

I met with Alan Ranson, Head of Technical Services at Leupold last Monday. I asked him about the moa reticle. He said they are working on it. Should be available next summer or fall. Mil reticle came out first for miltary and law enforcement use.

Too little...too late. They've missed out on many sales because of it.

I seriously considered the vortex viper for the build I just completed for this reason. But as it worked out a Leupold vx2 6-18 w/ target turrets got the call and sits up there any way. Just today I was wishing for the moa reticle option. It sure is nice when that bull steps into a small clearing at 600+ and you dont have time to twist!

So Amen brother

I just hope that they don't do something strange. Like they did with the VHR and put the calibration at less then max power. If they make it like the Nightforce or the ART reticle it would be great. Plus not too thick of crosshairs. I think that one of their LRT scopes in 8-25 power would be great. But that's just me. Slim

I just spent money on a NF, primarily because leupold did not have a moa reticle. They seem to be after the BDC market imho.
I realize they can't offer everything, yet they may be realizing that long rang hunters are probably going to be buying high end optics (ie NF/Swaro) and they would not get much share.

My Nightforce scopes are great scopes. But there is something about the Leupold glass that I prefer. I know this sounds funny but I like the look of it better when I look through it. I am not a scope swapper and I have a new barrel on order so I am going to need a new scope. I sure hope it comes out in time. Slim

Slim,

That's not surprising. Nightforce scopes have GREAT mechanics but their glass & coatings are definitely a step behind the best European scopes, and also behind the new Leupold scopes (at least the better Leupolds). The difference in optical quality would only likely matter a few minutes at dawn & dusk, but for a big game hunter those times REALLY matter.

Count me in.

I am not sure why it's such a big deal to Leupold to make this reticle. Burris told me that if I were to send my scope back to them with a range card of what my rifle is shooting they would custom make a reticle for MY rifle. If Burris can make one at a time at a decent cost why is it so expensive for Leupold to re-tool and make a new line of scope reticles that they could sell hundreds or thousands of?

The fact that Leupold doesn't have a MOA reticle is why I went with Vortex! I would also like to petition for some sort of Leupold zero stop! Please and Thank you.

looks like the greybull runs the same 7/8 turret as my vx-III, but they have zero stop and leup can't do anything for me? Anybody know how to zero stop these turrets???
