Opticaly i don't think there is any large range of difference between the lenses from S&B, Nightforce,Zeiss or Swarovski, you can add kahles also into that equation. all are first rate so it biols down to chosing a scope with the options you want. I want 1st Focal Plain reticle, 1/10th Miliradian adjustments, i want enough adjustment to reach 1000m with a 308 in 1 tuen of the turret, i don't need any more than 16x magnification as its mostly not usable due to mirage. I insist on 100% reliablity and that includes no zero wandering when turning the x's up and down. I need good low light performance as i hunt wild boar at night. I feel happy with the S&B as i know i can trust my life to thier equipment, the company has excellent customer service. I drive withing 20 miles of the S&B factory on my way top work. I will stick with them. If Zeiss made the conquest with a 30mm tube they would be on to a winner.
A Nightforce NXS that was in 1st focal plain would be an interesting developement, they already have a model available with 1/10th miliradian clicks.
Leupold, Nikkon, Doctor Optic and the better Bushnel(bausch & Lomb) Gerhard etc are all lesser in quality to the obeve mentioned manufacturers. They will do, but unfortunately for me, " That 'LL do, will not do here" .
I wouldn't pay full retail for anything, ive got some good contacts and am in the process of getting my FFL which means i get trade price direct soon.
