Pencil barrel 338 muzzle brake

Well the brake on a nosler rifle in 33n is threaded 1/2"-28 right from the factory on a very similar barrel contour. Not sure if that is what some consider safe but thats in a factory rifle.

I wonder how muzzle bore gauges being so thin.
