Yes, they are used. The ear inserts are new, replaceable and available from Otto. All I ever used were the soft roll-ups. I've used them in two consecutive years of competition. The rechargeable batteries are not replaceable. You charge the base station. Once charged, that charge will last several weeks. (use your android phone cord) Placing the ear buds back in the base is how the buds are charged. Once charged, the buds will generally last for two days between charging. I never shot two day events so this is a guess.
