The wording also classifies an "assault weapon" as a weapon with a flash suppressor, muzzle brake, compensator or threaded barrel designed to accommodate the above. The suggestion of a law like this is totally preposterous, but not out of the realm of reality to get passed in a state like Oregon. I have been contemplating moving east of the Snake river for some time now, if this passes my decision making will be much easier.

The conservative radio programs have been very vocal about the nature of this bill. But history shows here in Oregon that conservative or even moderate middle of the road voters who would oppose infringement like this if they were only paying attention, often have more important things to do then send in their ballots on voting day. The liberals always show up. We'll see where it goes.

Putin (Russia) has a bounty on Soros' head... Sadly, it would only take one concise predator drone strike to end the Soros & son problem, and then have the government freeze ALL worldwide entities accounts that are associated with him in ANY way. But we haven't done that yet, for some reason... That would solve all of this. Stop the Soros & Bloomberg money funding AntiFa, anti-gun movements, and all the other unAmerican activities, and it will all cease and slowly dwindle away into oblivion.

The Rothschilds and Rockefellers are also just as evil...Except they also control the entire world's wealth. No family should be that powerful. Having just moved to this area 3 years ago this is my first foray into a mzldr elk hunt..with tips from guys I have met along the way giving me general areas to start looking...
I started closer to the house as I didn't want to put a lot of driving time in as I am always on call for work...

last winter we had seen some critters from the hwy about 30 miles south..
so I started there..first day saw some bulls up on private ground..so kept looking for cows..none spotted..while driving to a different area to search I ran into another hunter and bs'd with him for quite some time..kind of getting a general layout of who owned what to which road or fenceline...only two spots to access from the west side of the mountain..of about 5 miles of fenceline...so day ended no cows(no bulls allowed)...another guy that I have been talking with suggested heading west..so next day I went west..a couple tracks on a 150 mile road trip into migration areas...and flat tire in the middle of nowhere....
When I got back the guy texted me and said a buddy of his said to take a drive out down around to the east...if the elk aren't within view of the hwy they aren't off the mountain and there is no hunting above the fence line...above that fenceline belongs to the OWNER of the Utah Jazz(whomever he is..I don't watch basketball)...and he owns so & so to so & so..and back over the top to this other road...
So to see all this area I took a drive the next day...it took me 2.5 hours to go around the lower section of this guys property line..all posted quite well..and he owned the other side of the road too...NO HUNTING...Miles and miles of mountainous area..the elk migration route...I asked a local game cop and he just shook his head.......no elk moving......not enough snow to push them off the ranch...try this other area...about 60 miles north...about 10 miles from my house..but 40 miles to get there by road....found some elk...mostly bulls...next day I went back and a snowmobile had rode right into the trees where the elk were staying...I finally found some 3 miles north..bulls...
So any ways...that's what I learned this past fall looking for elk...where not to waste a bunch of time...from long time residents....

The vote will get on the ballot but it's not likely to pass. That said, this is no time to be complacent.

Timber companies are not "corruptly" locking up land. What started the shutting down of PRIVATE timberland is the Moonlight fire in CA in 2007. The fire started on Sierra Pacific's land and they were fined $8 Mil by the state, $55 Mil by the Feds, and they gave the Feds 22,500 acres of forest land.

Now fires start all the time on public land—which is usually poorly maintained—and then spread to private land. The private companies are not given funds or land when that happens. Regardless, the when Sierra Pine paid the settlement in 2012 it spooked timber companies and they all started severely restricting access.

Further, timber companies cannot lock up public land. They can restrict access to their own land and land they have leased. There are plenty of times when I drive through timber company land to public land.

The timber companies aren't the bad guys, the government is the bad guy in all this.

Afp1...before I moved from the coast there were lots of public lands locked behind timber company gates...
A friend from high school just retired from a big company..he started as a peon in the mill turning sheets..finished his years as the dryside manager...we got tired of him laughing at us lowlife..he had the keys to every company gate that he could hunt behind..along with the public lands...they(the company) and government reached an agreement for road maintenance by the company..and no access for public use....that same company put in gates and watchmen to keep bowhunters out of several places because the companies headhonchoes wanted those bulls....I had many years of hiking cross country to play their games..great elk reserve.....and that particular area was gated from two mountains by two different companies...eventually the main gate was moved to within 100 feet of the main highway...and several more gates up the mountain from there...
now all the area has been purchased by another company..they sell permits at $500 per person to hunt on any piece of their property and if you think you can drive thru their gate to hunt on government ..without their permit..I hope you have deep pockets..that is considered criminal trespass..and it can also include charges such as unlawful entry with a weapon......they aren't playing anymore....but..hunters that had the permit could be there before lite and off after lite(big vast area)...until pressure was applied to them last year..now they are forced to close their lands at a
Level 2...no hunting...but they keep logging....
Public lands arent disappearing...we just don't get access to them any longer...

What started the logging issues in Oregon was the spotted owl controversy...or the lack of spotted owls...the last report I saw was that spotted owls were a dying species..they were being eaten by the grey owl...which were very populous in the FS and BLM forest...

I know it certainly seems that way but I work for a forest products company. I started with them in 2007 after I retired from the USAF. Since 2012 they have become much more strict about drive in access. During fire season they are VERY restrictive.

I know of one time when they let the son of the owner hunt an a chunk of land they had closed to everyone else. He got a mediocre 5 pt bull. They will give permits to employees to drive behind gates, and most of the time anyone can walk behind the gates.

Where it gets tricky is when they are leasing someone else's private land and logging that. Chunks of public land can indeed be boxed in by private landowners, but that isn't the timber company doing that—even though you will see timber company signs all over the place.

Weyco has gone to a fee system which I am fine with, but when ODFW allows 150 tags for the Powers Bull hunt and Weyco allows 250 for a certain unit in Powers, it's barely different than a plain old public land hunt.

In 2012-2013 I had the Melrose any bull tag. I got permission to hunt on timber company lands. In saw a few bulls 275+, but they were all locked up on personal private property.

So I do agree hunting access isn't what it used to be when I was amid in the 70s, but timber company land is still much more accessible than private land.

BTW, I am probably done elk hunting in Oregon. I'll go on a guided hunt out of state every few years. I'll probably still hunt Blacktails in Oregon. I am EXTREMELY disappointed with the quality of hunting since I moved home in 2007.

Okay..so with the timber lands background you know a lot of companies in the game...as do I...and if you have been around since 2007 you probably know some of the exact people I know...and I am sure you know how a few of this people can ruin things for others..say hiking in from private property to hunt a timber company's land without permission...and then after you become a big wig in that company you turn around and have people arrested and vehicles towed doing the same as you did just a few years ago...
My wife was an office manager for a company on the coast...I am sure you have an idea of whom I speak here...locking gates..chasing elk onto his property when no one else can drive on a particular road..and then shooting everything with antlers..and later getting as many agriculture cow tags as possible because the elk are on his property...between three properties in this particular drainage there could be every elk from north to south....I counted 25 bulls in one field...monster Roosevelt's...no hunting...it cost a lot to play a game where there aren't any animals inthe little FS available to hunt...I quit buying tags for elk....I think the OreonHuntersAssociation need to pull their heads out and get the public lands opened back up..EVERYWHERE....
As for Weyco...yep...but at least if you buy a permit for their properties you can hunt any of their properties...some of the others are charging $350 per gate...you pay to hunt behind ONE gate...

Back in the day I bow hunted the powers unit and never saw hunters...only killed one elk over there....and there were plenty to choose from...a spike was my very first elk kill..at SlaterCreek...been all over that country...and across the highway....and I hear now that most everything on both sides is leased or locked...feel sorry for the people over there trying to keep a family heritage alive....

LOL!! I can think of a couple guys who would have done that very thing.

As you know, Slater Creek is Roseburg land, Bone Mtn is Weyco. There were lots of hunters in both last year. I think ODFW should make Powers like a Wenana. Allow 25 tags but for the first season. Make the second season the spike season—if we really should be shooting all those spikes.

I was very disappointed with the number of hunters last year with the Powers bull tag. Many of them long range hunters who knew what they were doing.

The worsening position of Oregon hunters is the loss of PUBLIC LAND ACCESS
.....denied because timber companies have corruptly overtaken land use of the public lands.....
Something to remember is that lands on east side of cascade mountains is mostly public...which is extremely limited for mule deer tags....most people hunt deer in Oregon vs elk....Blacktail are the most
hunted..which live in the cascades to the coast.....
what will this mean for the hunter numbers of the future..the heritage of family values..coming to an end.....
eventually total expenses will end the common mans hunting...putting all hunting in the rich mans hands....
I saw this when I was about 12 years old...one little timber company bought the road access to an area of the Sixes unit in southwestern Oregon...elk, deer..everywhere....access lost...they bought every piece of property a person could access the public lands...even from local land owners......thousands of acres of land...locked up by a greedy man....
The company that did this is called MooreMill......it took another 25 years but the other companies did the same..some did it in increments....
not only do I feel betrayed by the government locking us out..I am disgusted and sickened..
people like ourselves are seeing the end of their lives as they know it...as we know it...

I've lived in Oregon for most of my 50+ years. I worked in LE for over 30. Most of that in the F&G Division of OSP. Oregon is not Oregon anymore. For all the reasons you list, and so many more. If I told you what I saw and heard, you wouldn't believe me because it would sound utterly insane. This state is run by gun hating, hunter hating, libitards. The truth is what they say it is. Heaven help you if you blow the whistle of their lies. They will be more than happy to show you just how open minded they are! People underestimate just how morally and ethically corrupted these people really are. A wise old guy once told me, it's commin' kid, best be ready.

Did you catch the part in the bill about inspections in your house of how you secure the weapons? Searches without a warrant. Plain and simple.No notice, no requirement of warning, just a how ya doin and in they come. And yes, my kids 10/22 would be an "assault weapon". 1 unregistered Butler Creek 25 round mag would buy you a class B Felony arrest. Might as well go steal a car, that's only a class C Felony. Just be sure the car doesn't have an unregistered mag in it! That would really get you in trouble! Never mind the car thing. Wonder where they are going to build all the new prisions they will need? Maybe just put a fence around Washington County and throw us all in there!

What they are trying to push is a law that would criminalize (Felony) otherwise law-abiding owners of semi-autos.

"Filed by an interfaith religious group in Portland, Initiative Petition 42 would also require legal gun owners to surrender or register their assault weapons or face felony charges, according to language released Tuesday. " Anybody know what an "interfaith religious group" is?

One of the Republican reps in the state had this to say "I've been told so many times by people in favor of gun control: 'no one is coming to take your guns.' This explicitly comes for your guns."
