Looking at putting together a new factory light carry hunting rifle and I'm looking for options on a decent ffp scope for a budget minded build. Things I'm looking for is a max magnification of 16-24 decent glass as so I dont have to worry about not having picture in almost direct sunlight, so maybe something with a shade available. I'm probly asking alot and some wont consider it long range but ideally the longest shot will be 400 yards with occasional target shooting out farther. Let's put a cap on price in the 500 range, if that's doable. Thanks in advance everyone!

If you can go to 600 I have a pst gen 1 with the ebr 2c reticle in 6x24. Very good shape sunshade box fresh battery shims etc.

Primary Arms makes a 4-14x for $350 ish. They also have a 3-18x coming out soon for around $500-$600

Vortex came out with a Diamondback Tactical FFP that would be in your price range.

Athlon Optics also has a few options for you.

That is all i can think of right now.

The Primary arms is a great option if you like Mils. Also, Cabelas has a line of FFP scopes t hf at are very reasonable. I put one on a budget 243 build, and it works pretty well. My only criticism is that the parallax adjustment yardage are not even close to accurate, but that's not a big deal to me.

Used swfa super sniper. New they are $800-900. Can find them used all day for around $500. Aside from the 6-24 (mine is 3-15) magnification requirement it will fit the bill nicely. I have used one for the past year and a half, close to 3000 rounds. Good glass for the price and it tracks very dependably.

The athlon Argos btr checks all the boxes too but I was not impressed with the turrets so it never made it onto a rifle.

I have an argos btr it hasnt been too bad. I got rid of the factory grease and it alot better now

Also, with increased magnification you increase mirage and lens distortion. If you are only going to shoot out to 500y then 15x is more than enough. A friend of mine routinely shoots a 1-4x out to 500y. With 15x you will be good. Plus for hunting, the 3x min magnification is nice. I vote SWFA 3-15x.
