Opinions on the Remington 783 ?

I haven't personally shot one, but my good friends son picked one out in 30-06. He was a solid 15-y.o. at the time (nose tackle on varsity football team). He's killed about 20 deer with that rifle, and some hogs. Don't think he's missed yet. You couldn't give that boy a new truck for that rifle. I believe the 783 may be more accurate than the SPS 700s out of the box!

I've not been disappointed with the Remington 783. You have to spend a lot of money to do any better. Handloads and Sierra HPBT #2140, CFE223 and Bushnell Dusk to Dawn 4x12. And, even with this group, I know that I am still part of the variance in shot placement. The rifle is well worth it's price at $379 even without the "bonus" scope. Bushnell scopes have never let me down.

.628"-sub MOA
