Opinions on 338 bullets for elk within 500 yards

I shot my bull at 500 with my 338 lapua and a 285 ELDM @2900. It smacked him like a mack truck and he was dead before he it the ground. Have lots of kills with that bullet and it performs perfectly. Kills amazingly well.

I had good results with the 270 grain eld-x. Accurate with large exit wounds.

After talking to steve from hammer bullets I have to mock up a round to see if I can get 3.6 OAL and if so I am sold on the 260 hammer hunter

I can only imagine that with a 338 and a Hammer Bullet will do it better.

88.5 of retumbo. I would start at 85 grains and work up.
