Old stomping grounds

Just drove by one of my old Prarie dog hunting areas this morning,and the whole town was filled with big round hay bales. I haven't been out here(South Dakota) for a few years. This wasn't a huge town it was probably about 16 sections. So I went to my favorite hunting spot a few miles away,more big round bales.

The hunting here has been going down hill for years,but I don't understand all the fuel to till and plant that ground and the bales are just sitting there. Looks like a couple years worth.

At least 2 years. They are all brown.

If you can't sale it, you still have to bale it.
As to keep the seeds going.
If you don't, your hay will become ragweed. Then to produce hay again you have to till it and reseed. Most will do corn. IMO.
