Old Powder Cans

I'm thinking this 8# can was 2000 but can't say for sure. Powder is still good though. Dad's 7mag still burning on this lot with very low es and small groups in a Douglass air gauged match .. 😎

a friend of mine has a bunch of old cans some are full
he is looking for load data for
alcan 5
also winchester 630
any one out there have any info on that pow
I also have some AL5 Alcan powder. I'm not positive I think my 45th edition Lyman might have some data. Can't check because I am in the process of moving and all my loading stuff is packed away.

I still have a few various 1/2 to 1 pounds of powders that are well past 40 years old, and they still work well. I've used powders that were past 50 years old, and at least for those, they worked well also. Years ago, I threw away some 40+ year old 8# paper/cardboard empty kegs that had contained Hercules shotgun/pistol powders, and I wish I had kept those old things. A couple of them had a pound or so of Unique and Red Dot that was still very effective in shot shells, 9mm and 38 Special. I remember buying one of those 8# kegs for $35.

Many years ago, threw away several 40+ year old 8# kegs like this, but they were in much worse shape.

He's got those old 8# and 16# kegs setting around everywhere with empty hulls in them. He used to set one under his mec grabber to catch primers in, then fill potholes in the driveway with spent 209's. People didn't know what to think seeing all those primers laying on the ground. 🤣
