Looks like it went down, they got out.
Had a coworker who had a side hustle diving to hook up rigs of all sizes that went through the ice.

Ice Rescue Training. Been there done that.
I always hated diving under the ice. Even with dry suits I got instant, severe headaches. Plus, I don't care for cold water.
It went under the ice and emerged a 100 yds away. See the side by side in the upper left of the photo.
Or that's where the tractor beam picked them up and melted the ice. They were dropped off 100 yds away after the alien encounter and probing

Looks like someone was headed southwest but decided to backup and ended up in the lake.
