IBTL!

When it comes to big elk I would say the best cartridge to hunt with is the biggest one you can shoot well...whatever that is. I have seen a medium size elk shot at 30 yards with a 180 grain bullet going 2700 or so and went thru him and blew out his far side shoulder. He stumbled and went to his knees and as he went to stand he stretched out his neck and the second shot got him mid neck. Game over. But I have decided it is best to go big as one can shoot well. If it is 6mm so be it...

As I dig out my old WW2 battle rifles to go shoot tomorrow...I find it hard to believe that anyone ever thought that less than a 7mm projectile was enough to go into battle with.

I believe that Sweden at one point had 6.5 MM battle rifles.
