Nosler long range Accubond experience

I didn't find the ABLR finicky at all.
I loaded them .02" off the lands where i start all my cup & core bullets. Went from touching to .09" off the lands. Kept them at .02" off the lands for best groups.
Seems like the BC may be a little conservative. Shot 6" high at 600 yards vs what Strelok Pro was suggesting.
I was surprised at the lack of damage from the ABLR.
35 yards from the 7mm Rem Mag should have done more damage, in my mind.

My go to bullet is the Ballistic Tip. Been using them for almost 40 years now. Egads, I'm getting old!!

The Berger VLD has performed very well for me!
Never an exit on deer. But as someone said, performs like a shotgun on the internal organs.
Jacket found under offside hide at every distance thus far.

Daughter using 115gr VLD in my 257 Roberts at 70 yards.
"He puffed up, went straight legged and fell over".

I've been testing the 165gr ABLR's in my 6.8 Western for the last few months.

This is all out of a 20" inch barrel
  • Smallest group - 67.4gr StaBall HD - .39'' group - 2,801 fps
  • Most consistent powder - Magpro - Groups range from .5" to .97"- Speed ranges from 2,788 fps to 2,909 fps (still have a little room to go in terms of powder charge)

My 7mm Rem mag was new in 1963. Original stainless barrel and now has over 5000 down the tube. I do have some throat erosion but I just seat a bit farther out. Still shoots bughole groups but I've never let the barrel hit up while shooting. I hav another identical barrel off my late fathers 700 to replace it with. It's stainless and was made at the same time or before mine. It's a shooter too but only has about 300 rounds through it.
Update on my 1963 7mm Rem mag. It was still shooting okay but my GS and I borescoped it. No rifling for the 1st 12 inches, looked like a darn shotgun bore. Went ahead ans screwed in my other barrel and throated it so I could shoot 175gr partitions with base seated to the bottom of the neck. I may regret throating it so long, well just have to see. My old barrel will be sent to JES in Cottage Grove. Oregon and revored to 338 or 35 cal. No use wasting a barrel.
