Previously it was a fairly well kept secret and only known about with Bear hunters. Most of the giants are shot on private land via guided hunts. It's an economically depressed area and most of the outfitters/guides are locals that are farmers, or commercial fishermen. It's a pretty cool area to be in, and the culture is relaxing and laid back. Nobody here in the area will raise an eyebrow if you shoot a 500lb Bear. They are pretty common. Anything 600+ is going to get talked about a little bit.
