Should also say the wound channel is the most consistent I've had with any bullet. From over 4k down to 1800fps they operate very similar. Very consistent wound channel.
They are nothing alike, completely different design and alloy!! Cutting edge marketed the crap out of their product for longer, performance counts in the long run and Hammers best them in the hunting market hands down CE dominates the ELR.I use the MTH in a 6.5 cr and a 28 Nos. Live in CA so required to use copper bullets. Killed a lot of animals with them and extremely happy with them. Best kept secret out there. I think their lack of popularity is due to lack of marketing. I also think Hammer got their idea from Cutting Edge andd pretty much copied them with the exception of better marketing
I think the LRX has addressed this, however, I don't use them in anything launching below 3000fps, so no experience with say LRX 6.5mm 127g out of my 6.5x47 Lapua or 260AI. I have them, but my 264WM & 6.5-300 Weatherby both launch them above 3200fps.They open better than Barnes everytime. Do much more internal damage. Plus when the speed slows down they still shed the front of the bullet. Barnes material is not very good and not consistent. They are tough and hold together but better monos are out.
Wow. Thanks.3200fps
This was my thought as well. The lrx I took a deer with this fall behaved very different than TTSX. The copper is much softer in the front. It shed weight and mushroomed almost like a bonded bullet.I think the LRX has addressed this, however, I don't use them in anything launching below 3000fps, so no experience with say LRX 6.5mm 127g out of my 6.5x47 Lapua or 260AI. I may have to give them a thorough test in those two.
Cheers.
It's was supposed to address that. It is better but still has not proven to me to be anywhere near as reliable. I have not shot a ton of them compare to the others but it seems they did work on the issue but still doesn't seem to do what CeB does or hammers.I think the LRX has addressed this, however, I don't use them in anything launching below 3000fps, so no experience with say LRX 6.5mm 127g out of my 6.5x47 Lapua or 260AI.
