No love for CEB?

One thing to consider is that CEB is probably at the top of the shooters list for Long Range and ELR competitions. They might be concentrating on their success in those fields and as a result, the hunting attention might be lagging a little. Since these are primarily hunting forums, the CEB bullets get less attention.

The unfortunate loss of the Badlands brand hurt me significantly since I was concentrating my buying on their brand for both competition and hunting.

My percentage of use is higher now for the Cutting Edge bullets as opposed to the Hammer bullets although I use several of the hunting bullets from Hammer. Both kill properly not withstanding which I have chosen for any hunt in particular.

I use the MTH in a 6.5 cr and a 28 Nos. Live in CA so required to use copper bullets. Killed a lot of animals with them and extremely happy with them. Best kept secret out there. I think their lack of popularity is due to lack of marketing. I also think Hammer got their idea from Cutting Edge andd pretty much copied them with the exception of better marketing

The next bullet I tried was the 150 lazer ...Only had 2 on-game experience with that specific bullet. The first being amazing! It was a doe mule deer at 540 yards. One shot and she was hooves to heaven without a twitch. ... To me, that was very impressive and the internal trauma was as impressive as well as the blood spray on the off side. ...Long story short... my sight-in height offset was more than I should have ran and hit very high on the back... This bullet appeared to have deflected somehow. Not sure if it was the thickness of the hide or a rib bone buy the tip bent over and it was banana shaped laying sideways under the offside hide.
I'll give this specific bullet another chance but will be more critical of it's performance. I did buy some 125 maximus for my 270 cal lineup of rifles. The maximus line is their most hunting oriented line and should prove to be more consistent and dish out more trauma with the loss of bc.

Thats very helpful. Its good to know what people see at at the extremes and then hear about what ratio they see of each.

Sometimes bullets do funny things, its just rough when the funny thing happens without a string of good performances first.
I think the Maximus line could be where its at for their best overall performance. At least its their latest line and designed specifically for "high trauma" with BCs (mostly AB tested) closer to the MTH line than Raptors. And theyre affordable which I appreciate.
I have a load half way worked up in 270WSM 22" that Im excited about.

I should also add I've only run the raptors and the lazer from them. So the Maximus may be different

Very helpful! To me Hammers are the Partitions of the mono world. They are the standard to be compared to.
Im gunna try the Maximus in my 270 short mag and see how I like it. The BCs arent great but Ive seen the tests on youtube that shows they open function at very low speeds. Ought to be great at 1800 which is way out there.

Good point re CEB and their focus in ELR n such. Im hoping their Maximus is the best of both worlds bullet they designed it to be.

Care to elaborate on which CEB and hammers youve compared and any specifics on impact vel and internal damage?

IMHO.....Probably because when they First came out they were EXPENSIVE pre-covid...after Covid everyone except Hornady started GOUGING the public. CEB didn't gouge either and so their price is now competitive and their bullets are winning a great deal of long range competitions...almost more than any other..... fabulous projectiles!And great folks to deal with!

That being said both are so far and above Barnes and other monos you would be happy with both.

The 400gr is very good. I launch that out of my 375AM and I've only shot 3 things with it between 420-986 yards but nothing took a step when hit.

Would you mind sharing the velocity of that launch? Please, inquiring minds want to know...
