NM Unit 52 Muzzleloader

I was blessed to draw a NR Unit 52 muzzleloader tag for elk. Any advice or ideas for a semi-guided hunt (or possibly guided) would be greatly appreciated. I also would consider a cabin and DIY as an option. Thx!

52 has lots of elk and should be a fun hunt. It's known as good place to kill a bull but not for trophy bulls so Expect to see a lot of rag horns and 5x5 and a few small 6x6. Elk are spread through out the unit shouldn't have problem finding elk.

If you don't have time to scout probably worth while to get a guide. If you have time to scout you should be ok on your own if you know how to hunt elk. I don't know any guides in that area to recommend. Only town in NM in that unit is Tres Piedras and it's basically an intersection with a cafe and a gas station. Antonito in Colorado not far from the border on North east side of unit pretty small too not sure what they have for lodging. Chama is on SW of your unit but it's about a 30 mile drive to get to your unit I believe.
