I know I'm waxing nostalgic, but I was raised in southern NM in the sixties. That's when there were no oryx tags, Barbary Sheep was a once in a life time tag, Chama land and cattle were the only elk game farm and the state had two deer areas (north and south). The rains fell on a regular basis and it wasn't in a continuous drought and on fire year round. In fact the biggest issue I can remember was all of the Texans that showed up to buy over the counter deer license's during the 9 day deer season ( and I did witness a forked horn buck strapped to the hood of a chevy impala with Texas license plates In 68).
I realize that things change, people move in as well as reproduce, weather patterns have changed and many more people have the resources that enable them to hunt out of their home states. I hope that all of you that wish to hunt are successful in getting that special tag and can have some of the great adventures that I've been blessed with.
