NF Nx8 SFP or Swaro x5 5-25

Looking to buy a new scope. Love nightforce scopes and the new 4-32 looks great but the x5 has caught my eye for a while now. Any opinions?

Really like my NX8 2.5-20. Great all around hunting optic.

I have lots of both brands, and I would got with the Swarovski unless you plan on holding a lot.

The only thing I don't like about the X5 is how much of a pain it is to reset the zero stop. Glass and turrets are both absolutely top notch.

i have both and would opine that the glass in the x5 is significantly better than the nx8.

i prefer the size of the nx8, but between those 2 scopes, x5 and its not close.

I have the NX8 and really like it. Hard to beat the reliability of NF when doing a lot of dialing.

Is the 2.5-20 too short to mount on a long action with no rail?

It's too short.

It must be dependent on the action.
I've mounted the 2.5-20 on a lone peak long action and a bighorn long action. Each had about 3/16" to play with, not much room but doable. Both those rifles have Hawkins rings if that helps.

Stiller tac 300 with Hawkins hybrids is what it will be going on. Is the eye box in the 32x that much tighter than the 20x?

Well got a great deal on the 4-32 nx8 and couldn't pass it up. Will have it next week! I'll post initial thoughts when I get it. Going on a 28 nosler.

Yes initial impressions are very good. I will be mounting it this weekend. Glass is very clear, I like the reticle and it's a great size for what I like.
