Next project : 30 Creedmoor!!! (30-28 Nosler hybrid)

so you made what we would refer to as a ring die that is made to size the .200 line on your brass. we make them when you have tight chambers and not sizing the base resulting in bolt click on extraction. they try to make them .003-.0035 under max dia. you will have to play with depending on spring back

Never heard of that term. Thanks

I've got a ring die pbike on accurateshooter made for me when I had my 17 peewee reamer reground to 17 badger

Got the 30-28 hybrid out today. Bottom center is a sighter with 85 to get things started. The next 10 shots were 2X 85,85.3,85.6,85.9,86.2. Vertical for all 10 shots was 1.020". It's hard to decipher some of this, so apologies. Very happy with results so far. The top 3 shots were some foulers I made up with pulled 215s, 79 r25 and f215s into a 1.71" group.

next: load some 215s with 86-87+gr and see how she does with fireformed brass.

That's gotta be the hardest most expensive way to make a 30 Nosler I've seen anyone come up with, I run a 215 right in the 3100-3030 fps in the 30 Noslers. The 86 gr of H1000 is where I run.

Talk to Alex and Ryan Pierce about making a 30-28 nosler. Maybe they can help you understand :) I'm assuming you are joking around, so I won't say more.
Plus, what is hard about pushing the reamer in a bit further and using 28 nosler brass instead? It ain't rocket science :) A lot more to be gained with the extra 7-8 grains over a 30 nosler

I talk with Alex all the time and I don't need to talk to Ryan Pierce since he hasn't done anything without getting it from someone else and I've been doing it a fair bit longer!
Nothing wrong with the 28-30 Nosler, the first ones many built were exactly that before we had the specs for the 30 and 30 brass, I've done most of them from 270 up on 28 brass. I prefer the straight 30 Nosler cause it keeps the 215 I think right on the top end of the sweet spot right before needing a 230.

What was your whole point? If you don't like me tinkering with wildcats then why are you here? I put a lot of time into taking pics and explaining stuff for those who want to read it. Maybe try to be positive rather than negative. I haven't messed with a 28-30 nosler. No need to with a 28 nosler...

Quick test today of a 215 with 77g r25. 2890fps and didn't blow me up. Later today will be a pressure ladder with speeds for 215s and h1000. Goal is to hit that next speed node around 3100+ with the bit of extra case volume. I'll run the numbers and post the increase, but guessing it is maybe 1%. Not much, but might get to the node with a decrease in pressure

edit: after running the numbers, the extra 3.5% case volume should allow close to 3200fps since we are at 3129 without any signs.
Im guessing you would probably run similar powders at similar charges to a standard 300 Norma. Case capacity for 300NM is roughly 103g h20.

For everyone else, Next up will be 86+. I just realized in my notes I went lower than planned today. Been a month, so I've forgotten some details.

Got out and did some load testing at 400yds today. Tried some foulers in the center (215s r25) then the 2 top left with 86.0 were sighters. Obvious node at 86.6, so I'll do some seating depth testing next. Had them sitting .050" off the lands to start. Very promising.
