Hello I am a new member and been shooting a while. I was into varmint hunting in the early 70's and returning to PDog hunting this spring. I have a 17 HMR, 223, 22-250, 243, 25-06, and 270.
I am used to shootting Chucks in Western NY and had few shots a day (>10 was a great day) and hear PD hunting wears your trigger finger raw with ~250 shots a day.
I reload of course and so far the plan is 17 17 Grain Hornady, 223 likely 50 Blitzking, 22-250 55 Blitzking, 243 70 Blitzking, 25-06 90 Blitzking 270 110 Hornady VMAX.
Currently I have leupold scopes 243 has 24X 1/8 dot, 22 250 has 4 - 16, 223 4 - 16 and will decide what to do for the 25-06 and 270.
Since this is my first time PD hunting not sure what to expect but feel 17, 223, 22 250 and 243 have it covered through 400 yards so....I think the range will drastically improve since today there are explosive bullets. In the 70's there were accurate bullets but getting expansion past 400 yards was iffy at best.
