New to reloading

Just getting started reloading. I used a hornady manual to follow on 175 gr eld x for my 7 prc. H4831sc with 175 gr eld x . Max load shows 63.8 for 2950fps. My 62.3 gr loads were reading 3058fps. Shooting a CA 26 inch barrel. Is this normal to be that much higher on speed??

Some rifles are faster than others. Also barrel length makes some difference. What was the barrel length Hornady was using compared to your barrel length?

Looks like it was a 24 inch barrel. My Christensen has a 26 with a 2 inch break.

There's most of the answer. The 2" of barrel could add most of that 100 FPS.

Windy conditions made it tough on accuracy but overall my first batch was a good starting point. The 300 weatherby touched 3360 fps today also.
