New Savage 110 Ultralite with Proof CF Barrels

Magnums were stated to be heavier. The barrel contour on these are "Proof Light Sendero."

"Savage® teamed up with PROOF Research® once again to craft a barrel specific for a purpose driven firearm. At 6 pounds and under, the 110 Ultralite is designed to combat elevation and elements while maintaining the performance of a factory blueprinted Savage 110 action."

Specs for a 28 Nosler say exactly 6lbs.

The profile is much smaller than a "Sendero Light." A "Sendero Light" is .820" @ 24". I have the 28 Nosler at my house. It is only .743" at the thread cap.

I can't find a barrel on Proofs site that comes anywhere close to matching this profile (Except for the Bull Sporter profile in the all stainless barrel section). The carbon wrapped barrels are all much heavier profile. Even the Savage Prefit barrels have a larger muzzle diameter.

All

I hear ya friend. Just sharing what I've heard from others. Not trying to push any buttons. They probably designed the barrel specifically for the Savage setup. 6 oz doesn't bother me but it may some. Here's tech spec pic I got from Proofs website for the 28 Nos on Savage prefits but I bet they designed your specifically for weight constraints. I've seen a bunch of new Carbons come out recently. Raggedhole sells them now using Wilson Blanks for 450 I believe and now Bartlein is in the game as well. Anyways, this Savage is a very cool rifle at very attractive price point.

Maybe? I think if they have the adjustable comb then they have the full length aluminum bedding block. I think they make a cheaper stock with just an adjustable LOP that doesnt have the full length block.

This may have been answered but I can confirm that they don't have a full length bedding block. Not even a partial bedding block. It's all "plastic." There is a metal pillar in the front. They claim it's an AccuStock but it's not the one with an aluminum bedding block.

Someone in a different thread called Savage about this same thing. It's a Accufit stock but not both. Some of their rifles have both.

That doesn't give me a warm and fuzzy feeling. I would rather pay 150-200 more for a stock I did not have to replace, that would be nice to have for an option.

How flimsy is the front end? Looks like they tried to reinforce it with some molded in "X" 's. If shooting from a bipod would it make contact with the barrel?

There's no way under normal shooting conditions would it actually come in contact with the barrel. I can force it to touch by squeezing the barrel and stock together. I can do that with Manners, McMillan, HS Precision, B&C, and all the rest too, so I believe it's a non issue.

I can twist the stock to get it to touch on the sides but it wouldn't happen while shooting.

*None of my posts have been meant to put down the rifle. I'm just sharing what I know on a very new rifle that seems to be getting some attention. I'm pretty sure it's going to be a shooter. I always have a hard time warming up to factory "plastic" stocks. My previous post about the weight is just an informational heads up (they all fib a little).

I second this. I don't have anything with this exact stock, but I've had a few factory Tupperware stocks with heavy barrels that don't have any issues, so with the light barrel on this I'd think it's even less of one. The only reason I'll change it is for a better bedding system, and I have a factory accustock that I'll probably end up using

I agree - I can press manners and mcmillans against my barrels with enough force. Sounds like I can live with the stock. I am wanting one in 308 - sounds like it will work perfect for my needs.

It does have pillars tho right? Looked like it in your pics.
