Please, don't be afraid to post. I just started posting here recently, and I think there's a certain amount of caution when joining a group of folks you don't know. Some pretty good minds here...I've never been to Florida, but it looks like a beautiful place to hunt. Alligators creep me out, though...o_O You must see them down there, huh? When I was in high school there was a joke on Izod, that we'd say, "did you hear that the alligators in Florida wear little boys on their shirts?". :D

Yes, big pigs here! Have some friends from Clear Lake, beautiful area!
There's an area that I was looking at going out that's east of Coalinga. There's some BLM land north of 198. I love that country, it's beautiful. Can get hot in the summer...just like Clear Lake, not on the cool side of the mountains.

I took a home butcher class at Oakstone Outfitters in Bradley, if you ever heard of them. Made me a lot more comfortable with dressing in the field. With the new tag pricing on pigs, they seem like a huge value at $27/year unlimited.

The other place I was thinking of going out is just north of A zone at the Eel River Campground. The private/public land is intermingled, but it looks possible to do a day pack from the campground, maybe 1-2 mile day pack. There is some water there. Do you guys have a lot of deer around SLO? I have put a lot of miles on 101 driving between L.A. and NorCal over the years...I'm amazed we can get deer tags over the counter since the fires. Possibly the only good thing to happen from the fires a couple years ago.
