New member here! Long range scopes!

Hello, I'd like to thank the admins for my approval! Look forward to all the informational threads !
My first question to throw out there, is recommendations on a long range adjustable scope for my Remington 700 6mm and Ruger American 308? Trying not to break the bank on a purchase, being new to trying to reach out to 500 yds or less , for now! Any help would be appreciated! Tom
SLightly over your budget but very affordable ae some scopes on the LRH classifieds in the 3.5-14 or 15 with 50mm objectives.

Let me suggest you start shopping there and just be prepared to spend 500-700.00. That way you're starting out with a very good scope from the get-go instead of starting cheap and having to upgrade two or three times over the next few years.

Welcome, glad to see you here. You might take a look at this one. Primary Arms 4-14 x 44 mm Rifle Scope 30 mm First Focal Plane (FFP) PA4-14XFFP308-OPMOD-KIT2, Color: Black, Tube Diameter: 30 mm $249.99 at Optic Planet
Good luck, Chees

So you like that scope do you? They offer up a bunch for the price! Did you out it on your 338?
No I'm not a mills guy I traded it to a buddy for a 6 mm arc barrel,15" hand guard and a sh4 Gen 2 4x16 scope. I have a nightforce atacr 5 x 25 enhanced on the 338.

My experience, FWIW, has been that the turrets on lower budget scopes are not to be trusted. Some give true moa or mil movement and return to zero but I haven't seen many. Get a scope with a good moa or mil reticle and once you're sighted in leave the turrets alone and use the reticle for your hold overs. Get a rangefinder and anemometer and work up a ballistics chart with hold over and 10 mph wind. It's easy to quickly break wind speed into 10ths.
