Honestly it's rather comical how I ended up reading more and more here. I was looking for some projectiles that had recently been available in the classified section for a 25-45 sharps that most certain Most certainly isn't a long range cartridge by any means.
Hey the 25-45 ain't no slouch especially for these Texas deer! Love mine

Howdy from the hill country
Where abouts in the hill country I recognize those white spotted coats in your profile picture. The free rangers have taken over where I hunt and only saw one white tail this year opening weekend in south east Gillespie county.

I haven't gotten to hunt with mine yet. It was decided upon after the damage done with my 308 multiple years hunting 10-110 yds and taking shoulder shots through both shoulders to anchor them where they were shot if head shot was not an option. The brush is so thick outside and east of my shooting lane that at one point I was on my belly to recover an axis buck that crawled off in the brush to die.

Well what I have time for mostly is 100 yd load development and keeping my defensive pistol and rifle shooting skills current. This coming year I plan to get back to working on 300-500 whenever time permits if I get to where I am comfortable there the range here has the option to go to 600. I plan to go elk hunting after I finally retire and the little ones are out of the house and want to be prepared and proficient with both of the rifles and loads that will go with me prior to that.

Looking forward to the discussion here, it seems there are many threads with great information.
I have been hunting most of my adult life from 30-600 yds but the great many recent years has been limited to 110 yds. I load nearly everything I shoot. I am interested in improving my skills from 300-500 as those ranges are not easy for me to practice at currently. Not looking to hunt much further than that range any more.
I have been a member on cast boolits (please delete if we aren't able to post other site names here) since 2015 and I have learned quite a bit over there.

A dumb question, but perhaps you know the answer (I don't). I have seen "Bullets" spelled as you did "Boolits" once in a while. What is the purpose? I had thought that it was for some cites that prohibit talking about ammunition, but that doesnt appear to be the case. So why do you, and others, spell it that way?
Thanks

The site name is boolits, normally refers to cast or swaged lead non jacketed projectiles though.
