NEW McMmillan game warden MAX

Ya, that's definitely one for the short list!! Stocks were so much easier when 14 lb long barreled long range guns were the rage, drop anything in an A-5 add a NXS and your a winner, nice to have choices but some times it seems a little too much in the option department!!

Funny timing, @bigngreen was just over today checking out this stock.
Yes, the way I ordered this one came in at about 31oz. Anyone can order these from McMillan. If your trying to get them light, go with a painted finish. The gelcoats adds 4-5oz.
Guys get WAY too caught up with comb height in my opinion. I know its a personal preference, but mine is to have the comb high enough to give me a touch to help quickly position my head, but not so high or wide I start to put actual pressure on the stock that will degrade accuracy. Unless you have a condition which prohibits you from holding your head up for long, you will shoot better with less of you on the gun. I have used just about every stock on the market, this ones my personal favorite so far for this use.
At any point in time, I have almost every hunting stock on the market in the shop from McMillan and a couple from Manners. And I have owned rifles built on most of them at one point or another. I have gotten really picky about how I want a stock to be designed for its intended application. I just finished one on the Manner UC stock, and its the best in its class. Rifle came in a 4lb 14oz., really like that stock for an ultralight.
Wow. Super light. I'm happy with just under 8 lbs. Thanks. I'll give McMillan a call and see what I come up with. John

A note on weight. The carbon fiber Game Hunter in urban camo I used on my long range hunting rifle last year was 24 ounces without pillars. My smith likes to install custom height pillars. The whole rifle turn out a hair under 7 lbs.

What components did you use for the build ?

No scope ?
Forgot the trigger, Timney 2-Stage Calvin Elite. They are local so I swung by their factory and had them tune it to my finger, worked great.

This rifle is primarily for Coues deer hunting so I went with a Leupold VX6 HD 4-24 with the impact reticle. So far it's taken 3 Coues deer at what consider long range 😀. I have Seekins rings holding it on the receiver.

The game warden is one of my favorite stocks but I wanted a higher comb. I asked Kelly McMillan if he would make a version with a maximum height comb. And he did. I get to play with them all and this is my favorite so far. Pictured is the game warden Max in olive, The game hunter in olive and black speck, and the A3 in forest marble.

Alex, is it ok to share this on Long Range Only?

They wanted me to pay to post over there, not sure if the info is welcome or not. But Im fine with it.

Did McMillan add "extra" in the stock to make it usable for Ultra Mags? They recommended to me only Edge fill can be used on magnums not ultra mags.

Is that weight quote with scope ?
