New here from AZ.

That's why it took me so long to go hunting. I had kids later in life. I still have a 15 year old at home, my only boy is this caboose, and I'm over 62. I did what was the priority. Kids are the future. But now it's becoming my time, what's left. I'm near Bass Pro, diagonally across the Valley.

Nice! Yeah, same story for me, married later in life, 2 kids at home, 56 yrs old, work 50hrs/week or more. Just getting my 11 yr old son into shooting. He shot my old Nylon 66 in 22LR and loved it! He shot some great groups at 25 yrs, which was amazing considering it was his first time ever shooting a real gun. Now he has the bug and wants his own gun (the Nylon 66 is back in VT where I grew up), so I need to find a nice shooting 22 for him to get comfortable with.

I have several. Thought my kids were going to get into shooting, but the bug isn't there. The youth programs kind of fell apart. What are you thinking about for a 22? I'll see if I have one you'd like.we can negotiate on the price.

I appreciate that. Since he is small for his age I am looking for something with an adjustable LOP, so it fits him and he can grow into it. Assuming he does well with that, I am looking into getting him a 6.5 Creed as a first "big" gun, mostly due to the very light recoil. Once again an adjustable stock will be critical.

Bass Pro/Cabela's has the Savage Axis on sale this month. Look at dates in the ad. It has an adjustable stock. You could get him a 5.56 or a 6.5 now.

Welcome from Buckeye, Az
You are half way to LA from me. I was out there a week ago at Fertizona picking up pasture forage seed. Planted, irrigated, and it's shooting up with this weather. Ran to Casa Grande today, only half as bad of a drive but south instead if west. Picked up 2 tons of fertilizer. Stuff has doubled in price just since May. Do you do any farming?

Nope no farming anymore. Did that when I was a kid in Pa. Now it's just shoot, reload, play golf, go to the pool & relax. LOL What town are you close to?

I wonder what the combined experience of just those who are welcoming me would add up to be? Incredible when you stop and think about it.
