New girl, just starting long range

Welcome from South Carolina!
It sounds like you are doing well and have the right attitude. You can very likely outshoot a lot of us right now.
What caliber is your AR10? What length barrel? What ammo or bullet are you using? And what optics? I have a 7.62 x 51 and 6.5 Creed in AR 10. Both have 20" barrels.
I surely hate that you may not be able to get the Bergara. It bothers me immensely that laws may keep someone from getting the equipment they need for this sport. Particularly a bolt action rifle for goodness sakes. Especially a lady because we need more just like you on our side. Hopefully something will change or some type of mircle happens to allow you to get what you want.

My AR10 I built is a .308 with a 20" barrel. I have a Vortex Viper PST II 5-25x50 FFP, MRAD
the trigger is a CMC 3.5 lb single stage
I generally use Nosler
The Bergara i want is the B-14 HMR either 6.5 Creedmoor OR a .300 Win Mag and ill buy either another Vortex, or go with a Leupold Mark 5HD... but truth be told, i love my Vortex... so ill probably get another.

Welcome. Biology major, eh?
Most anywhere in OR or WA, you are not that far from BLM land where you can shoot. It takes a little more work to find places to shoot 1K, and there are a few spots where you can shoot over a mile. It just depends how far you want to drive.
Best of luck in your quest.

Welcome from E. Oregon.
If you're planning on shooting targets then the Creedmore is the way to go on the other hand if you want to shoot something like my avatar @ 700yds then get the 300WM.
This is a hunting oriented forum after all.
Hi!! so yes, on my bucket list is an Elk, a black bear, and a Grant's gazelle in Tanzania. everyone does keep saying 300 win mag.
