New barrel bore appearance

sppedgun, sorry to hear of your issues……hopefully this can be resolved to your satisfaction!

May we also hope that the Holiday Season will make some more "sympathetic"to the transgressions of others ……rather than just being "pathetic"! memtb

Batlien is who I had problem with. Wrong twist rate, Wrong barrel length. Had to fight over it also. Finally they relented. Returned the Barrel. Put out order on the table to see who can fill it. I have one coming finally. Sure costs to time to get it.

If you have a good one local, call yourself fortunate.
I am fortunate that we do not have shortage of reputable gunsmiths where I live. I have access to ~10! in an hour's drive, one of which is 2 miles from my house. My go-to gunsmith is 20 minutes away and have served me well since 2003.

Please all. It is not my intention to post pictures or try to assuage my dissatisfaction. I got what I got and am perfectly capable of dealing with the manufacturer. My intent is to sample the experience of those who have purchased several barrels over time and have a better understanding of industry standards. Thanks
I'm following this thread with interest…
I, for one, would love to see actual pictures of what specifically dissatisfying is being opined upon…
And I would love to see some groups from the offending barrel/rifle platform.

Somewhat vague nebulous discussions about "industry standards", expectations, gunsmiths, barrel makers and pipe fitters leaves way too much room to conclude anything about anything.

Personally, I've seen some hideous looking machining shoot exceptionally well and some disappointing "air gauged" perfection that was beyond frustrating.

Just saying that this type of discussion can be all over the map.

OMG!

The OP isn't asking for our opinions of the barrel condition. He and the company have determined it's junk. His question is beyond that and asking about expectations of custom barrels from those who get them often.

Not so sure he is after reading post 16. In that he says he can deal effectively with the maker and knows what he expects the resolution to be. Like I said above, the reference to "Industry Standards" is nebulous at best so I have no real idea what he is asking and he hasn't clarified.

That's a separate, but also valid point.

3800, if you did not learn something from my posts, then you are not listening to what I am saying.
I read everyone's responses…the OP's " intent is to sample the experiences" of others who bought barrels and get an understanding of the industry standards…
Standards of product quality, workmanship, customer service, warranties, etc….that's a wide swath.

I totally agree with your advice about "cheaper barrel makers".. I went that route with my first rebarrel job and felt disappointed and burned.
Old man George McGowen told me on the phone that his barrel and chambering job was just fine and he didn't need to fix anything, he didn't need my business and I should go learn to shoot and make better ammo …musta been the "industry standard" of the time.
Ed Shillen trued everything up and put an actual gun barrel on my action and followed up with a phone call to ask how it was shooting.

For years I shot tiny groups with Ed's barrel and McGowen's was used as pry bar for tightening pulley belts.

I'd still like to see pictures of the OP's bore.

OP described similar to this:
If that's the case, then I don't think an opinion or prediction about later shooting results matters.
He is concerned with the product, and he is the customer.
