New 7mm cartridge from Federal

Thanks for the news. Thanks for keeping us up-to-date on the latest.

I'm going off of a weak memory of it but what I believe it was called 277 Fury ? It had a ceramic case ? I don't remember the details . Was it designed for military use ? Were the cases reloadable ? I wouldn't think so but what do I know ?
Didn't HK come up with a cartridge that was made out of cardboard or something like that. The cartridge would get incinerated in the chamber, and there was nothing to eject. I never saw one. But I remember reading something about it. I think it was in the 90s. My first thought is what happens to the primer? Is it made up something that gets incinerated too?

Sounds like a recipe for carbon buildup in the chamber...I wonder if it was semi-auto? 🤔

One thing I want to clarify on this discussion is they are not using the old "steel cartridge case".

They're using some kind of stainless alloy, so everyone's past experience with steel cartridge cases should be thrown out the window.

I don't know anything about the material properties of this alloy myself, but it certainly sounds like the ductility and toughness properties are different from the old steel cases.

When I get a case, I'll hit it with our PMI (positive material identification) gun and let you know what materials are involved.
PLEASE do!

Probably their HK91 (military version G3) and HK93. 7.62 and 5.56. I had an HK91. Awesome rifle. It had fluted chamber to assist in pressure for blowback. It sucked for sizing cases. Not sure if they still do it.
Don't know why I told you that. Just sparks a memory I guess 🤔🙄

I haven't heard a reply on the ceramic case 277 Fury. Maybe it was non pertinent. It might not have been 277 Fury. CRS 🤔 Steel case head and brass body. 6.8x51 I guess.
Not on topic. I know. What's new.

That's interesting. I'd like to hear more about this.

As the thread here kinda belongs to Fedral I'll hijack it with this question, does anyone have one of the POF rifles with the fluted chamber and how does that affect resizing and carbon?
My HK 93 with fluted chamber mad sizing cases a PITA. Yes , chamber would get filthy but it never caused a malfunction on me. Sorry, I not recognizing POF.
