i have never shot a 7mm or a 300win what is the recoil like on them i have shot a 30-06 and 270wsm alot but never the 7mm or 300's if i get the 7mm im planing on shooting the 168or180gr berger VLD . is it a bigs step up from the tikka y3 in 270 wsm for recoil

A 270 WSM with 150gr factory loads will be very close to what you will feel with a 7mm Rem Mag.

If you are talking about a light weight 300 Win Mag in the light weight rifle (like T3 Lite), it can be bruttle.

I have Rem M700 BDL that has been rebarreled to 300 WBY Mag (27.5" barrel) and weighs in around 9.5 lbs, in the field huniting it is OK, on the bench shooting groups, it will wear you down and beat you up.
