All great questions, just don't have the answers. This action belonged to my friend's grandfather, and I did a bunch of work to it. It was a 7 Mag, and rebarreled and rechambered to 7 PRC. Put a barn wood dipped McMillan stock on it and a jewell trigger. Best part is, I had the family's cattle brands cerakoted on the stock in the same locations they would appear on the cattle. I think it turned out awesome. This is my thought process, if the base was purchased after the action was drilled, what did they use as a guide?
If it was available at the time it was drilled, did the use the rail as the guide? If so, how did they accomplish it without the rail being seated properly on the action?
Questions, I am curious to see what you figure out?
