Need opinions from S&W 500 shooters

if you've never handled a freedom arms, you have to. It's amazing feeling how tight of tolerances they are built to, and they are accurate as can be. Mine is a 454 Casull with a 45 colt and 45 acp cylinder. I love being able to shoot light 45 acp loads and switch to 454 casull in a matter of minutes.

I did, in the early 2000's and it was one of the most expensive firearms I had ever handled.

Sure it was good and what you'd expect for the price, but way above the average consumers ability to afford. Heaven knows what they cost today.

I may have to give the FA a hard look. I don't mind spending a little extra if they are really that much better. I plan to do a lot of hunts with this pistol so honestly at the end of the day it may be worth it to pay a little extra for the top end equipment. I am an accuracy fanatic anyway and I prefer to shoot a gun where I know if there is an issue with the group that it is either me or the ammo!

The tough part is finding one to handle before you buy. I'd let you shoot mine but looks like we aren't too close (I'm in WI). They are a long lead time thru freedom arms but there always seems to be a few on gun broker or guns international.

I appreciate it man. I would like to try one, I have never really been a big fan of single action revolvers, but that being said, I have never fired many of them either and for a dedicated hunting rig they may be they way to go. I shot a BFR in 45-70 once and I didn't love it. It felt like it was hard to control the recoil. The grips felt really small in my hand. The FA may be a totally different animal though. I need to try one. Is there anything that is similar to it feel wise that you would recommend shooting?

I'm not sure of another gun that would feel similar. They do usually have a hard slippery grip, so if you are use to rubber, it's going to move a lot more under recoil. Takes some getting used to and may seem hard to control at first.
