I have found that just about all VLD style bullet like the bullets to be seated into the lands or at least just touching them. I have found that will all my guns that they shoot best with the bullet having little if any jump at all ,but I have to say that I check all my rounds to make sure that their is no run out on the loaded ammo.
My tactical 308 was chambered especialy for Black Hills 175gr ammo and it only has about a .010" bullet jump , and it shoots hand loaded Bergers best when they are seated about .010" INTO the lands.
