Having a 28 nosler built, and looking to put a break on. Barrel will be .650 at muzzle. What thread should I use 5/8 or 9/16?

Also would like some ideas for a break to purchase. What should I be looking for? Thanks for the help.

5/8 is more standard here in the US.
Look at APA little bastard or Fat bastard area 416
And those are about the top 3... hard to really beat those.

Plan on running a suppressor? Then I'd go with TBAC and whatever mount for the Dominus or Ultra

Bigger threads are almost always better.
Dont fear a manufactured shoulder like this one. Ignore the dissimilar materials/colors; this was supposed to be temporary.

Here's what I found on Muzzle Brakes and More and his numbers sound good. You need to have enough shoulder for the brake to but up against.

These are the thread sizes I recommend on barrel sizes in these ranges:

Below .540" is 7/16x28
Between .540 and .630 is 1/2x28 unless you want to turn it flush and then it's .670" and up
Between .630 and .700 is 9/16x24 unless you want to turn it flush and then it's .750 and up
Between .700 and .850 is 5/8x24 unless you want to turn it flush and then it's .800" and up
Over .850" is 3/4x24 unless you want to turn it flush and then it's .950" and up.

Muzzle Brakes and more 5 port
is my vote. I have 2.

Call or email Nathan and give him your barrel dia at muzzle, type barrel, whether fluted, where fluting stops from muzzle end, etc.

He can tell you exactly what you need.

I investigated brakes on this forum, and got great info.

Only 2 brakes give the most recoil reduction. MBM and Terminator tie on the weighted sled tests.

But MBM is made in the U.S.

Terminator is out of New Zealand.

All the others like Fat Bastard, Area 419 are close but not as good on the sled test.
