Hey guys I was wanting to know if it could be done and if it will affect the accuracy by putting a muzzle brake on. I have an optima v2 LR and was wanting to get the barrel threaded for a muzzle brake. What are your thoughts on it and what muzzle brake should I go with. I have also have two jugs of BH209 and going to go with a bullet to bore setup. I had a MRX 45cal and I just didn't like it. The hammer would not lock some times and it sometimes it didn't want to fire. I cleaned cleaned cleaned it also still the same thing. So I went back to the optima v2 lr because honestly I thought it shot better even tho it's a 50cal.

Agree with @Rick Richard. Get Jeff Hankins to thread it for you and I would recommend his 'Master Blaster' tank style brake. It is the most effective brake he makes. I have one on my SML…

That's a nice looking sml right there. Will a muzzle brake even work on a CVA optima. I want to get into the sml game but the fund s for that is not ideal right now. I had the MRX 45cal that already had a muzzle brake on it and it made it enjoyable to shoot.

Sure! However, if you ever plan (or are forced) to use sabots you will be limited to a radial brake.
I'm probably going with a bullet to note set-up. I already have a Lee hand press and sizing die also. And if I happen to go with a a different bullet it will probably be the hornady ELD-X. Heard a lot of good things about those.
