Yes, I tried to post an update with pictures but it wouldn't post them. It was pretty much the easiest hunt I have ever done. Got there a couple days early and scouted. Saw a ton of bucks but no giants. It blew my mind because I would walk out of the house and there would be bucks just standing within 20 yards and not pay any attention to me. I videotaped a nice 3x4 with browtines up at the house and told myself if I saw him opening morning, I would shoot it (I didn't have a ton of time to hunt this year). Opening morning we drove to an overlook and encountered some nice bucks on the way. We would pretty much shine our headlights on them from 10 yards away and see if they are worth setting up on for sun rise. As the sun rose we sat on a hill and looked at many bucks but again, nothing super huge. I saw the 3x4 with browtines about 300 yards away so had to decide if I wanted to make a move or try to hold out for bigger. I decided to get my first mule deer and got to about 125 yards and decided that was close enough. Rested my gun on a backpack and dropped him. 11 hour drive for a 15 minute hunt. Next year I'm going to hunt a full 5 days or so and see if I can get bigger. Oh ya, ended up bringing my 25-06 and 300 instead of 6.8 western. Used the 300 win with 150 soft points and was surprised by how small the exit wound was. As close as I was, any rifle would have worked though.
